VATS crits are worthless because no one uses flamers in VATS. Slower breaking is actually kinda good, but A/FFR is just better overall. Plus, more damage = faster killing = less shots spent = less degradation :P. I use an enclave flamer with vats, aim at the head and it kils most things in a few hits.

I’ve seen true flamer barrels drop on rifles but have only ever seen the aligned flamer in a box mod. Good news is, that’s the one you want. As it was stated by others, only install it on a frame that has a stabilized stock and reflex sight. Congrats on the find and good luck rolling legendaries!
