Smith Lake park is the best free spot I know, the east side of the lake has a lot of coves and slews for slaloming. Up by Trident marina next to big bridge there is a great cove that has a slalom course at the end. Trident is about a 15 minute boat ride from Smith lake park. I believe Trident will allow you to put in there for 5-10 bucks also.
